Glasgow bank holiday weekend weather as hopes for clear skies dashed

Despite all of the good weather Glasgow has been seeing recently, it is set to come to an end just in time for the bank holiday weekend.

According to forecaster the Met Office, the city will see "heavy rain" as well as overcast skies throughout Saturday and Sunday.

Those looking to enjoy the heat and sun should do so while they still can on Friday, as temperatures are set to peek at 17 degrees Celsius by 4pm.

The late afternoon will also bring the last moments of sunshine before things turn cloudy this weekend.

Friday night will see temperatures plummet, eventually hitting lows of 7C early on Saturday morning.

The Met Office states that Saturday will be a "cloudy day with outbreaks of rain", and temperatures are set to peak at just 11C around midday.

While it will be a dry, albeit dull, start to the day, light rain is set to begin falling by 12pm — and it is set to continue throughout the remainder of Saturday.

The rain will turn heavy briefly at 2pm, and then again for a prolonged period between 6pm and 10pm.

It will be a mild but wet night in Glasgow, though the rain is forecast to stop by 4am on Sunday morning.

Overall, Sunday looks to be a fair bit more pleasant than Saturday, with no rain currently forecast and temperatures set to peak at 15C in the mid-to-late afternoon.

Looking ahead to next week, it will likely be a similar story, with the Met Office forecasting cloudy skies and "patchy rain" on Monday and Tuesday.
