Glasgow B&Q runs out of hot tubs amid high demand during lockdown

A Glasgow B&Q has run out of hot tubs amid high demand during the lockdown.

People queueing up to shop at the Great Western Retail Park in the west of the city were greeted with a sign which read 'No Hot Tubs Today' at the entrance.

A look on the retailer's website indicates that the tubs are priced in the region of £5,000 each, making it an expensive addition to a Glasgow back garden.

But it seems that the unseasonably warm weather, coupled with the lockdown restrictions, has meant that more and more Glaswegians are willing to splash the cash to get their hands on one.

Last month Glasgow hot tub business Heavenly Hot Tubs informed Glasgow Live that hits on their website had jumped from 40-50 to up to 300 amid the lockdown.

Jon Mulligan, Managing Director of Heavenly Hot Tubs, said: "As you will no doubt be aware the demand for hot tubs has indeed increased dramatically since the start of lockdown.

"With more and more people staying at home and planning on staying within the UK this year we have seen a huge increase on website traffic and general enquiries relating to both the purchase of hot tubs or for repairing and maintaining ones which are already in situ or for hire.

"To give you an idea, we were tracking at between 40 and 50 website hits per day.  This increased hugely up to 300 hits per day. With this in mind we have never experienced such amounts of traffic to our website on any one day."
