Glasgow artist traces girls captured in Kelvingrove Park painting after social media appeal

A Glasgow artist has managed to track down two young girls he captured in a painting of Kelvingrove Park.

Charles Randak had asked Glasgow Live for help to find the girls from his piece 'Sunday in the Park with Snow' which was borne from heavy snowfall in February.

The picture shows a typical scenario from the park; a family with two girls pulling along sledges, a girl on her phone, friends catching up.

Charles wanted to give their families a copy of the painting.

He told Glasgow Live: "If it had been my daughter and someone had done a painting of her I’d want to know so I could get a copy."

Through the help of the public, two girls featured in the painting have been found.

Sisters Jane Bluebell, 10, and Rose Summer, 11, were identified by friends and have been given their very own copy of the painting.

Charles said: "The painting was on display in the Gallery window in order to help us find them but social media soon came back with an answer - the Gallery and I were happy to make sure that they had an extra very personal gift under their tree this year.

"The girls stood out in the painting which featured a mix of friends and acquaintances meeting and enjoying a day out in the snowy landscape as they pulled their sledges through the snow.

"It was good to make sure that they got their own copy of the painting."

What a lovely Christmas treat that must've been!
