Glasgow and surrounding areas issued with 'travel with caution' warning by police

Police Scotland has issued a 'travel with caution warning' to drivers in Glasgow and the surrounding areas.

They are reminding drivers that Met Office has issued a yellow weather alert for snow and lightning and that conditions for travel may be hazardous and extra caution should be exercised as a result.

The warning has been issued for Glasgow City, Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire, North and South Lanarkshire, as well as East Dunbartonshire.

Police advise that if you are travelling you should ensure you and your vehicle is adequately prepared for the conditions - making sure you have sufficient fuel and supplies such as warm clothing, food and water in the event you are delayed for several hours.

They are also advising drivers to charge mobile phones, plan routes as well as alternative routes and listen to media broadcasts - especially local radio.
