Glasgow airport: Police search plane after security alert pauses operations

Police officers are searching a plane at Glasgow airport after a security incident was declared on an inbound flight from London.

Operations at the airport were temporarily suspended on Tuesday after a security alert on the plane was raised by crew members at around 10.25 am.

Flights to and from the site were halted and emergency services attended the scene, an airport spokesperson said.

“There were reports of a security alert on an inbound easyJet flight from Gatwick,” the spokesperson said.

“Operations were temporarily suspended. The incident was stood down and we are now operational.”

“All the passengers and crew members have disembarked from a plane which is currently being searched by police following a security alert reported by the crew of a flight at Glasgow Airport,” a Police Scotland spokesperson said.

“Officers and the other emergency services are in attendance.”

The airport’s runway has now reopened.

There have been no reports of any injuries.

“easyJet can confirm that passengers on flight EZY883 from London Gatwick to Glasgow were delayed disembarking on arrival in Glasgow, purely as a precaution, due to additional security checks,” a spokesperson for the airline said.

“The passengers have been disembarked and taken into the terminal.”
