Glasgow Airport strike action cancelled as pay dispute ends

All strike action at Glasgow Airport has been cancelled with a staff pay dispute having been brought to an end.

Holidaymakers have faced delays at the airport throughout the past few weeks, as staff members decided to take industrial action.

Workers at Glasgow Airport, represented by Unite Union, had been staging industrial action against the airport’s owners AGS as a result of a dispute over pay and pensions. The dispute centred around Glasgow Airport’s pension scheme, which was agreed previously in 2016.

However, both parties have announced this afternoon (Tuesday), the dispute has been resolvesd.

Glasgow Airport advised: "Following confirmation today (Tuesday 9 July) from Unite that its membership have voted to accept the company’s offer."

A spokesperson for Glasgow Airport added: “We welcome the outcome of the consultative ballot which has seen staff vote to accept the company’s offer and bring the dispute to an end.”

Meanwhile, Unite released a statement advising an end to the dispute, confirming: "Unite can confirm today (9 July) that following a consultative ballot of Unite members at Glasgow Airport its membership have voted to accept the revised offer put to them by management.

"This now ends the dispute at Glasgow Airport."
