Glasgow Airport M8 exit slip closed as emergency services deal with 'ongoing incident'

The Glasgow Airport M8 exit slip has been closed to drivers as emergency services deal with an 'ongoing incident' on site.

The junction on the eastbound side of the motorway is currently inaccessible to motorists over fears about a suspicious bit of cargo in on board a KLM flight.

As reported by Glasgow Live, the international terminal of the airport has been evacuated and Police Scotland , Scottish Fire and Rescue and ambulances are all in attendance.

Glasgow Airport has released a statement saying: “At approximately 10am, the airport fire service attended an arriving KLM flight in response to concerns raised over a piece of cargo. Enquiries are ongoing to determine the content of the package & the aircraft has been cordoned off.”

Traffic Scotland is urging motorists to find alternative routes.

Police told Glasgow Live the incident remains ongoing.
