Glasgow Airport incident - two passengers treated by paramedics after 'cargo spill'

Two passengers were treated by paramedics after a 'cargo spill' on board a plane at Glasgow Airport.

Emergency services raced to meet an incoming KLM flight, after reports of the spillage.

The Scottish Ambulance Service have subsequently confirmed to Glasgow Live two passengers were treated by paramedics as a result, with their special operations team on-site.

A spokesperson for the service said: "We are in attendance with our emergency services partners at a reported cargo spillage incident at Glasgow airport. Our special operations response team and an ambulance were dispatched and our crews are currently working on scene. Two passengers were checked on scene as a precaution."

Glasgow Airport have now confirmed the incident has been stood down following the scare.

They said: "At approximately 10am today, the airport fire service attended an arriving KLM flight in response to concerns raised over a piece of cargo. The incident was stood down at 13.25 after the package was declared safe by emergency services."

A Police Scotland statement earlier confirmed an exclusion zone had been put in place as the package was examined, advising: "Police called around 11.15am on Friday morning to a report of a spillage from cargo on board a plane at Glasgow Airport .

"We are in attendance and the package is being examined.

"An exclusion zone has been put in place as a precaution and enquiries are continuing."
