Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games teacake on sale on Gumtree for £2,000

A Scots seller is hoping for a sweet deal online - by selling a giant teacake.

The mammoth treat is advertised as one of those used as a prop in the opening ceremony of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

But anyone interested in snapping up the giant snack will have to dig deep, as it comes with a £2,000 price tag.

The teacake is photographed next to living room chairs and a rug ('Brian' on Gumtree)

The Gumtree advert posted by Kilmarnock based 'Brian' states: "Actual teacake used at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014 as can be seen in video.

"No place to store it now."

Enormous teacakes were used by dancers in the opening ceremony (Brian, Gumtree)

Photos posted with the advert show the distinctively wrapped teacake next to living room chairs.

An accompanying video shows the opening ceremony in which dancers performed with the giant teacakes.

They grabbed the props as Doctor Who's John Barrowman belted out an anthem in a purple tartan suit on top of a pick-up truck.

Blackburn's Britain's Got Talent sensation Susan Boyle also performed at the ceremony in Celtic Park.

The games were formally opened by the Queen who referred to the Commonwealth's "shared ideals and ambitions" and the "bonds that unite" its members.
