GlasGLOW will bring stunning light show to Glasgow's Botanic Gardens

The eagerly-anticipated lights show GlasGLOW is set to return to light up Glasgow city centre this Halloween.

Itison, the company behind the project, has unveiled a superhero theme for the popular spooky show this year, which will be fully outdoors and adhering to government guidelines.

Glasgow’s Botanic gardens in the city's West End will be illuminated with lights and sound effects for the third year running to create an immersive superhero story.

The GlasGLOW 2020 event will host a number of exciting features for keen Halloween revellers, including the return of the much-loved Marshmallowland.

Due to start at the end of October, the exact details of the light show are still under wraps.

But event-goers will get a taste of what to expect when the online deal firm drop trailers in the next few days.

To ensure revellers are safe amid the pandemic, there will be some new social distancing rules in place.

These will include:

  • A fully outdoor event with one-way system
  • Reduced capacity and staggered arrival times
  • Widened paths and removal of any pinch points
  • Dedicated Covid-19 safety officer
  • Socially distanced queue management throughout
  • Increased facilities, cleaning and hand sanitising stations along the route

Founder of GlasGLOW and CEO of itison, Oli Norman, said: “We believe more than ever in the power of bringing communities together safely.

“The entire events industry has been decimated due to COVID, illuminated trails are one of the first experiences that have the ability to go ahead and safely.

"GlasGLOW 2020 is a fully outdoor trail which will operate similarly to visitor attractions such as zoos and safari parks that have been opened safely since June.

“This has been a long, tough year for everybody, which is why I’ve written out a show which is all about discovering our powers within, turning all of us in to superhero’s.”

The show will also see the return of the itison Pumpkin Fund - the community engagement initiative which saw 1,000 tickets donated to families who needed it most and funded a mini-bus for local Highpark Primary School LCR.
