Glaring error in Love Actually - and it might ruin your favourite scene

There have been heated debates over the years about which Love Actually story is the best.

Is it Sam and Joanne, or Jamie and Aurelia, or maybe Billy and his manager Joe.

For many the best tale is Prime Minister Hugh Grant's romance with Natalie, as we watch their romance blossom behind the doors of Number 10 Downing Street.

But eagle-eyed fans have noticed a glaring error in the scene where they first meet, and it has completely ruined it for them.

Think back to when we see Natalie being introduced to her new boss. Ignore her rather embarrassing and completely unprofessional first few sentences, and concentrate on Hugh Grant's tie.

In some of the shots he's wearing a navy tie with white spots. Very nice.

But in other shots the tie appears to magically change to a different pattern when the shot changes between different angles.

Hmmm.

While most people have never noticed the tie issue, some spotted it years ago and now can't watch the famous scene in quite the same way.

Even though you've probably watched it about 50 times since its release in 2003, there's a lot you probably don't know about it.

Thankfully, in recent years we had creator Richard Curtis' wife, Emma Freud, give us some surprising facts and cute details which make it even better - if that's possible.

She also revealed that it took Emma Thompson seven takes to get the heartbreaking scene after she discovers her husband's affair.

“That scene where my character is standing by the bed crying is so well known because it’s something everyone’s been through,” she said this year.

She also drew on her own experience, after now ex-husband Kenneth Branagh's alleged affair with Helena Bonham Carter.

“I had my heart very badly broken by Ken,” she said. “So I knew what it was like to find the necklace that wasn’t meant for me. Well it wasn’t exactly that, but we’ve all been through it.”

Despite this upsetting error, there is still a LOT of things to love about the film and it's the perfect Christmas classic.
