Glamping getaway 30 minutes from Edinburgh named in UK top 25 list
A perfect little hideaway situated just thirty minutes away from Edinburgh has been named in the Times 25 best new glamping stays in the UK.
Gorse Cabin, situated in the Scottish Borders and close to idyllic walks in the Pentland Hills and Deepsyke Forest, is one of only two Scottish getaway destinations to make the illustrious list.
Stouslie Snugs, also located in the Scottish Borders, makes the list.
The 25 properties are spread mostly throughout Wales and England, with no Northern Irish glamping venues picked as an ideal getaway for those after the perfect staycation.
The Times describes the list as a mixture of treehouses, mountain cabins and dreamy tents.
Gorse Cabin is advertised at £145 - for two - for a one night’s stay.
The property is given the description: “Edinburgh may be only half an hour away, but the heather-smothered hills and cacophony of insects ensure that guests feel far from city life.
“Built entirely from local larch, Douglas fir and western hemlock, this minimalist cabin sits alone in a remote glade, with simple Scandi interiors: large windows, a roaring wood-burner and woollen rugs.
“You’ll also find an en suite shower with a (posh) compost loo, a mini kitchen, and board games and a record player for those mellow moments in between jaunts through Deepsyke Forest and the Pentland Hills.”
Who defines a compost loo 'posh' god only knows but the getaway is sure to be a treat for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life for the night.
A number of properties from Devon, the Brecon Valley’s as well as Cumbria and Northumberland also make the top 25 list.
