LUCKNOW: While it was the day of those who are in fray, at one polling booth in the city it was the polling officer who stole the limelight.
Such was her craze that the polling booth where woman Public Works Department officer Reena Dwivedi was on duty witnessed a significantly higher turnout on Wednesday.
Known for her fashion quotient, Reena was back in the limelight on Tuesday when she reported for poll duty in black Tee and beige pants.
Earlier, she became a sensation on the internet during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections soon after her images in Yellow saari went viral.
Her popularity has only grown since with 2.60 lakh users following her on Instagram. Reena was posted at polling booth 114 (Bastiyan village in Gosainganj block in Mohanlalganj assembly constituency). The total number of voters eligible to vote at the booth were 588 out of which 379 (64%) turned up to vote. In the adjacent polling booth 113, which is situated in the same primary school building in Bastiyan, 356 out of 645 (55%) came out to vote. The overall turnout in Mohanlalganj assembly segment was close to 56%.
Local residents were also aware about the media attention Bastiyan was getting on the polling day.
Around 5.30 pm, a group of youngsters from the village gathered at the polling booth and requested Reena to come out for a few minutes for a photograph.
