Gladiators' Jet can still fit into her skintight costume - 24 years after she left show

Gladiators star Jet can still fit into the famous lycra outfit she wore on the popular ITV show – despite turning 50 next month.

The 90s icon – real name Diane Youdale – can be seen in a new fitness video doing the somersault that thrilled fans on the Saturday night show.

Spinal injuries forced her to leave the show in 1996 and she later trained to be a fitness instructor and psychotherapist.

Diane has managed to keep hold of the legendary bold red outfits she wore on the show, she said: “There were only four, and I’ve still got three – one of which I may auction this year.”

Contestants battled mighty Gladiators in a series of physical challenges on the show, which first aired in 1992.

Hosted by Ulrika Jonsson and John Fashanu, it was watched by 14million.

It ran until 2000 and was briefly rebooted by Sky One in 2008.

The star has teamed up with Lumen, a dating app for the over-50s, to help them reach their fitness goals.

Diane said: “I teach Pilates and other functional fitness models, love outdoors and walking – which I’ve always done.”

Diane had been forced to leave the show in its prime after sustaining a nasty neck injury.

At its peak action-packed Gladiators was a staple of Saturday night TV and would regularly draw in up to 14 million viewers.

The game show, an adaptation of the American format, ran on ITV from October 1992 to January 2000.

The programme saw four contestants - two male and two female -compete in a series of physical events against the show's "Gladiators".

The contestants would aim to secure a place in the grand final and be crowned champion for their respective series.
