Gjanni Alioski on where his Huddersfield stunner ranks in his Leeds United highlight reel

Leeds United left-back Gjanni Alioski has admitted that all that mattered him was the three points following the Whites' 2-0 triumph over Huddersfield Town at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday lunchtime - despite opening the scoring with an excellent volley.

After a frustrating first half, in which Leeds had goalkeeper Kiko Casilla to thank for keeping the scores level pegging, Alioski took matters into his own hands, volleying in a venomous effort from outside the penalty area.

It was a superb, well-hit strike, and one that any footballer would be proud to have scored. But the North Macedonia international refused to get too carried away by his third goal of the season, insisting the three-point haul was the most important aspect of the afternoon.

"Yes, it came perfect. It's a ball that you need to enjoy and you need to take it," said Alioski, discussing his strike after the game.

"It was important for us to put the score to 1-0 because it was hard to do it and I am really happy because we took it, because if we didn't score we may not have won it.

"It is important to win and I am really happy to be back after injury. But the most important thing was the three points."

During his two-and-a-half years at Elland Road, the 27-year-old has now bagged 17 goals. But despite his strike against the Terriers being arguably his very best in Leeds colours, the left-back was not so keen on ranking it on his personal scale, insisting that winning as a team is the most important aspect.

Alioski added: "It was a nice goal but I don't want to give a rank as, for me, it was more important to win.

"It is not important how nice was the goal. Even if you score from 10cm, it is also one goal.

"It is nothing to me where I rank this, I am just happy to win."
