The sister of Emiliano Sala has posted a touching message to her late brother on what would have been his 29th birthday.

Sala was travelling from France to Wales as part of his transfer to Cardiff City when his plane disappeared off the coast near the Channel Islands in January 21.

The 28-year-old's body was eventually recovered from the wreckage of the flight on February 7.

Sala would have turned 29 on Thursday and his sister, Romina, dedicated a heartfelt message to him on Instagram.

Posting a picture of her brother smiling, she wrote: "There are [no] words that describe so much pain."

She added: "Happy birthday brother. Wherever you are, give us strength to continue.

"I wish everything was different. I promise you that we will not stop until the end. Kisses to heaven."
