Give My Head Peace latest series to be aired on BBC as tribute to late actor BJ Hogg

The most recent series of hit comedy Give My Head Peace will be broadcast again on BBC Northern Ireland as a tribute to the late actor BJ Hogg.

BJ Hogg, who was born in Lisburn, played the part of Big Mervyn for more than two decades but sadly passed away on April 30.

He starred alongside fellow actors Marty Reid, Tim McGarry, Michael McDowell, Patrick Jenkins, Damon Quinn, Oliva Nash, Alexandra Ford and Dan Gordon.

BBC Northern Ireland will be offering viewers another chance to see the star in his iconic role with the four-part series beginning on Friday 15 May on BBC One Northern Ireland at 10.35pm.

Justin Binding, Executive Producer, Give My Head Peace, said: “BJ was a big hearted, generous, talented man and very much a part of Give My Head Peace. With this in mind we felt it was both fitting and appropriate to pay tribute to him by giving his many fans a chance to see him perform on screen with the rest of the gang in the recent TV series.”

Damon Quinn, producer/writer and who plays Cal in the series, added on behalf of the Hole in the Wall Gang: “It’s fantastic that the BBC are running these episodes in tribute to BJ. Like the rest of the cast I will be watching the series and probably shedding a tear or two, but we will also be laughing once more.”

All four episodes will also be available on BBC iPlayer from Friday (May 15).
