'Give Manchester United the trophy already' - fans react to Europa League draw

Manchester United have discovered their opponents in the group stage of the Europa League this season as they look to win silverware and also find a way back into the Champions League.

The club have performed well in the competition in recent years, winning the trophy under Jose Mourinho and reaching the semi-final and then the final under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The hardest opponent in their group is quite clearly Real Sociedad. The last time the two sides met was also in the Europa League, with United winning 4-0 on aggregate over the two legs.

United then have to face Sheriff Tiraspol and Omonia Nicosia. The home fixtures should be relatively straightforward (hopefully) but the travel element involved with having to send a team to Moldova and Cyprus for a game on a Thursday night won't help Erik ten Hag deal with an already congested fixture list.

Even if United find it tough against Sociedad, Ten Hag's side will still be expected to progress through to the next round. And along the way, the fans will hopefully get a chance to see some younger players afforded their opportunity on the European stage.
