'Give Lee Johnson a contract for life' - Bristol City fans reflect on another season of progress

Although they fell just short in their quest to reach the Championship play-offs, just as everyone connected to the club recognises, it has been a season of achievement for Bristol City.

Not necessarily in the binary thought process of football's "win stuff" culture, which ignores all sense of context in the monied era of football, but in their patient and constant progression in the overall league pyramid under the guidance of Lee Johnson.

Bristol City refuse to go quietly and emerge with pride but 1-1 draw at Hull City isn't enough

Bristol City refuse to go quietly and emerge with pride but 1-1 draw at Hull City isn't enough as the 28th best team in England and Wales is certainly not something to be ignored or taken for granted, never mind the fact the Robins are punching well above their financial weight and the fact three key players in Joe Bryan, Bobby Reid and Aden Flint were sold last summer.

That was recognised by the majority of the fanbase on Sunday afternoon who understand the project being undertaken at Ashton Gate and one, unlike say at play-off rivals Middlesbrough, is far from finished.

With the right level and, most importantly, direction of investment and work in the transfer market, whose to say this cannot be improved upon next season and although it may hurt now, the Premier League remains very much in sight.

Here's a selection of supporter reaction across social media.
