Giuliani’s law license suspended by DC appeals court

Rudy Giuliani has been temporarily barred from practicing law in the nation’s capital as New York considers whether to permanently revoke his law license.

The D.C. Court of Appeals suspended the former New York mayor’s license on Thursday pending the outcome of the case in New York.

A state appeals court in Manhattan suspended Giuliani’s license in June, saying he put the public at risk by spreading lies about the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

Giuliani claims he was only offering opinions about the election and exercising his right to free speech.

Giuliani’s D.C. law license is inactive. Under Wednesday’s order, he can’t renew it unless the suspension is reversed.

Giuliani’s lawyer, John M. Leventhal, didn’t immediately respond to an emailed request for comment, sent after regular business hours.
