Gisburne Park Pop-Up: UK's first socially distanced festival launches this weekend

Drinks delivered directly to your tent and a capacity of 480 people per day are just two of the safety measures set to feature as part of the UK’s first socially distanced festival this weekend.

Gisburne Park Pop-Up will run an eight-week programme of entertainment in the Lancashire countryside from July 11 to August 30.

More than 24,000 people are hoped to attend over two months, with Jonas Blue, The Shapeshifters and Sam Divine leading the musical line-up.

Movie nights, a “pub in the park”, family-friendly events and street food will also feature.

Keep your distance: The pitches at Gisburne Park Pop-Up will be at least 2.6m apart from each other

Guests can book tent pitches big enough for a social bubble of six, each placed 2.6m apart, organisers said.

Food and single-serve drinks can be delivered to the pitch, eliminating the need to queue at a bar, and a one-way system around the 10-acre site is designed to allow two-metre social distancing at all times.

Robyn Isherwood, events director of Gisburne Park Pop-Up, said: “After a summer of cancelled events, we wanted to deliver a unique, safe experience for people to enjoy outdoors with the Gisburne Park Pop-Up festival.”

She added: “Our guests’ health and safety is our number one priority. We’ve ensured everyone can relax and enjoy the experience, safe in the knowledge that the strictest social distancing and hygiene measures are in place for all customers, staff and entertainers.”

Pitches can be booked from £20, with some events required a separate ticket, starting at £10 for adults and £5 for children. Visit gisburneparkpopup.com for more information.

Later this summer, a Northern Irish music festival that aims to be "safer than going to the supermarket" is also set to launch with a range of social distancing measures.
