Matt Maley reckons Girvan’s football club can put the town on the map as it emerges from the pandemic.
The Seasiders boss opened up on the challenges of managing a team during Covid lockdown.
Now it’s all about the future.
“It has been very difficult,” said Maley. “I think Zoom is the new way with SFA meetings and even talking to players over the last 12 months!
“But it is getting better and we’re hopefully at the end of the road with Covid; and it has been rewarding.
“This is a great club which is why myself and Robert Love, (player/assistant) decided to take the job.
“Girvan as a town is fantastic. What the club do for the community and what the community do for the club is part of the reason we’re here.
“I think the ground is open six days out of seven with various clubs and it’s fantastic to see how the club integrates with the community.”
Maley’s men are in West of Scotland League Conference A and have a long-term focus.
“The aims for the season are to get Girvan to where they want to be which is compete in this league,” he added.
“Ideally, we’d like to finish in the top three or four but we need to start building the squad here and taking Girvan in the right direction.”
