Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime) was initially awarded the first pink jersey of Giro d'Italia Women 2026 after crossing the line first on stage 1 in Ravenna, but after the presentations a change was made.
Wiebes was expelled from the race for breaching bike weight requirements and Italian rider Elisa Balsamo (Lidl-Trek) was declared the stage winner and race leader. That gave Balsamo a 10 second time bonus for the win, putting her four second ahead of Lara Gillespie (UAE Team ADQ), who after the disqualification took the six-second bonus for second place in Ravenna.
Third placed Chiara Consonni (Canyon-SRAM), with her four-second bonus, is six seconds back from Balsamo. Georgia Baker (Liv Alula Jayco), at ten seconds in arrears, is next because of her position on the stage but sits in fourth with the same time as the majority of the field.
Charlotte Kool (Fenix-Premier Tech) is fifth. Linda Zanetti (Uno-X Mobility), Gladys Verhulst-Wild (AG Insurance Soudal), Célia Gery (FDJ United-Suez), Lily Williams (Human Powered Health) and Alessia Zambelli (Top Girls Fassa Bortolo) round out the top 10.
