Girls Aloud stars reunite to support Nicola Roberts at Strictly Christmas special

Nicola Roberts had the full support of hyer bformer Girls Aloud bandmates as she competed in the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special on Wednesday.

While the race for this year's Glitterball trophy has yet to de decided, it was the festive silverware that was up for grabs as Nicola and other stars including Rosie Ramsey and Larry Lamb took to the floor to film Strictly' s annual Christmas episode, in front of the judges and an audience that included a number of famous faces.

Nicola was partnered with Giovanni Pernice for the one-off performance and, just days earlier, he shared a video on his Instagram of her belting out Celine Dion's All By Myself in rehearsals. Hours after it was announced that she'd be joining the cast of hit London production 2:22 A Ghost Story, Cheryl took her seat in the ballroom alongside Kimberley Walsh and Nadine Coyle, for the first public Girls Aloud reunion since the remaining members joined together for the charity Primrose Ball a few months ago, in honour of bandmate Sarah Harding, who passed away after a battle with cancer last year.

It was an eliminated contestant from the current series of Strictly, Richie Anderson, who let the cat out the bag on all of Girls Aloud being there to watch Nicola. Posting a photo of Instagram of him in the middle of the trio, the Radio 2 and One Show host quoted the band's hit Something New to caption it: "Go girls g-g-go go go, we girls gonna take control. A pleasure meeting @cherylofficial @kimberleywalshofficial and @nadinecoyle this evening in the #Strictly ballroom."

Kimberley was one of he many people to react to Richie's post, with her replying: " Ah so lovely to meet you!" while another of the Strictly class of 2022, Ellie Taylor, commented: " Omg I am so jealous I wasnât brave enough to ask for this picture!!! YES BAB!!!!"
