Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh turned away from Emmerdale despite sister's role

Kimberley Walsh has revealed she was turned away from Emmerdale despite her sister Amy Walsh's role on the ITV soap.

The Girls Aloud star says she once auditioned for a role on the show, but was passed on the part, despite her sister Amy Walsh starring on the soap as Tracy Metcalfe whilst sister Sally was also on the soap between 1997 and 2000 as Lyn Hutchinson.

She revealed she hasn't been asked to star on the soap, but is happy with it just being her sister Amy's thing for the time now. Amy is currently off the soap after welcoming her child, and is not yet sure when she might return.

Kimberley was turned down from a role on Emmerdale (ITV)

She told The Sun's Fabulous magazine: "They haven’t asked me. I auditioned for it in the past, but they haven’t gone for the hat-trick. It would be funny to go in for a couple of episodes, but that’s definitely Amy’s thing, and I’m happy to leave it to her."

Kimberley admitted there wouldn't be a chance for her to do it now as she's too busy with her family and other parts of her career," as she added: "Any soap is just so full-on and a lifestyle choice, which I just can’t really do right now."

Amy returned to her role as Tracy for the soap's 50th anniversary last October for a brief role, where Tracy had some big news for Nate, something she described as a "lovely" experience.

"It was lovely to be invited back for the 50th. When I was going on maternity leave Jane (Hudson), the executive producer, mentioned it was all happening around August and September and said if I wanted to be a part of it to let her know but when it came to it I just wasn’t ready to come back full time," she shared of her return.

"She very kindly offered to write me in and back out again so I didn’t have to cut my maternity leave short but I still didn’t miss out on the 50th celebrations so it was win-win!"

She added: "It’s been really lovely seeing everyone again and being able to bring Bonnie into work to meet everyone as we’re based in London now, so haven’t been back before now. It’s also lovely to be back with all the covid restrictions finally lifted as it was very different the last time I was here. So it’s a brief return for now like I said but a lot happens for Tracy in a small amount of time.

"She has some news for Nate but when she sees him it’s not as easy to tell him as she may have thought. Her and Vanessa get to spend some quality time together too which has been a long time coming."
