Girls aged 2 and 3 rushed to hospital after dog attack

Two young girls have been rushed to hospital after being attacked by an escaped guard dog, police have said.

The two girls, aged two and three, were both injured during the incident but their conditions are not life-threatening.

Officers from West Midlands Police were called to the incident in St Saviour’s Road, Birmingham, just after 12.30pm on Monday.

It is alleged that the guard dog escaped from nearby business premises before attacking the two girls, the Press Association reports.

Police say the three-year-old has been left with hand and leg injuries after being bitten and the two year-old has scratch marks and a leg injury.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said both children were treated at the scene before being taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

He said their conditions were not life-threatening.

Police say the animal has been seized.
