HARTFORD, Conn. _ Jennifer Valiante was sentenced to eight years in prison Wednesday for her role in covering up the murders of Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin.
Valiante is the girlfriend of Kyle Navin, who was sentenced earlier this year to 55 years in prison for the 2015 murders of his parents, Westport refuse company owners who authorities said were poised to stop financially supporting their son and to cut him out of their will.
Valiante, 34, had pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution. She was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Robert Devlin in Bridgeport Superior Court
"You could have stopped this madness, you really could have, but instead you fostered it," Devlin told Valiante. "That is why the family calls you the Lady McBeth of this situation."
Devlin continued "(Kyle Navin) would have listened to you and some whatever you told him to. You could have stopped this with minimal effort but instead you didn't say anything."
Valiante declined to address the court during the short sentencing.
Valiante had agreed to eight years in prison, more than two of which she has already served.
