Girl, two, dies in tragedy after police respond to 'child in cardiac arrest'

A two-year-old girl tragically died after going into cardiac arrest while at home.

Police rushed to the scene in Stratford Road, Sparkbrook, Birmingham, on Monday night (July 11).

The two-year-old sadly died at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics.

The girl's death is not being treated as suspicious, police say.

The young girl's identity has not been revealed.

West Midlands released a statement about the tragic incident.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson added: "We were called to Stratford Road, Sparkbrook on the evening of July 11 to reports of a child in cardiac arrest.

"Sadly the two-year-old passed away.

"Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.

"The child’s death is not suspicious and will now be referred to the coroner."
