Girl told organs were shutting down, County Road kick-off and girl, 12, died suddenly

Good morning, these are the latest ECHO headlines today.

Girl 'scared to drink water' told organs were shutting down aged 16

Nina White was just 16-years-old when she was told her organs were starting to shut down.

The teenager, from West Kirkby, in Wirral, was suffering with anorexia - an eating disorder which left her scared to drink water and refusing to eat. But after four years of not eating any food and having to be fed through a tube, Nina started on her journey to recovery.

Now aged 21, she has bravely shared her story to give hope to others who are going through similar situations.

Nina started suffering from anorexia at the age of 14. She told the ECHO: "I'd say growing up I was a bit self conscious of how I looked. I started struggling with body image and self confidence when I was eight or nine.

"I did get bullied when I was at primary school which probably contributed to how I felt about my body, but at that point my eating and everything was fine. I ate normally when I was young, it was just how I felt about myself really.

"Then when I was about 11 I'd say, I had an incident where I choked quite badly and after that I kind of developed a bit of a fear that every time I ate I was going to choke or I was going to die."

County Road kick-off as 'gang' fears raised around takeaway plans

Fears about 'gangs gathering' emerged after a County Road dessert takeaway asked to open until the early hours.

Choco Dado applied to Liverpool City Council for a licence that would see it remain open until 3am on most nights of the week. The takeaway, which also has a branch in Smithdown Road, currently opens until 11pm each night. Its new application would see it open until 3am on all nights except Saturday, when it would remain open until 2am.

The business and its plans will go before a meeting of the council's Licensing and Gambling sub-committee on Wednesday March 30, where councillors on the committee will hear arguments in favour and against the plans.

Those speaking out against the plans include all three County Ward councillors, Gerard Woodhouse, Roy Gladden and Maureen Delahunty.

In their written submissions, the councillors raise concerns about noise and 'violence' related to groups that may gather outside the premises. The objection states: "There is already considerable anti-social behaviour in this area and this will contribute to more.

"We have been contacted by local residents on the potential impact of this application on them in relation to public nuisance."

'Bubbly' girl, 12, died suddenly as she played in park with her family

A 'bubbly' 12-year-old girl died suddenly as she was playing in the park with her brother, sister and two cousins.

Phoebe Smith, 12, from Croxteth, was playing on the swings in Calderstones Park with her older brother, 13, younger sister, nine, and two cousins on Saturday, March 5, as their parents sat on the grass nearby. Phoebe's mum, auntie and uncle first realised something was wrong when the kids came over and told them the 12-year-old was lying on the ground.

The family went over to the swings and found Phoebe unconscious lying on the ground. They immediately called 999 and the North West Ambulance Service arrived at the scene.

Phoebe's auntie, Victoria Davies, 28, told The ECHO : "We went out to the park and must have only been there for half an hour. The kids were in the playground for no longer than 20 minutes and we were sat on the grass.

"The kids came over and said 'Phoebe is lying on the floor' and at first we didn't think anything of it and was asked 'oh, why is she on the floor'. We went over right away and realised this was more serious, Phoebe was passed out of the floor unconscious."
