Broomhill Road crash: Girl taken to hospital after being hit by car

A girl has been taken to hospital after a crash in south Bristol.

Road closures and bus diversions are in place following the collision, which happened on Broomhill Road at the junction with Whitmore Avenue at around 3pm.

Emergency crews are at the scene, and motorists are urged to avoid the area. It is believed the girl's injures are not life-threatening.

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We responded to a call received at 2.56pm about a potentially serious collision reportedly involving a car and pedestrian on Broomhill Road, Brislington.

"We were told that a female child had been briefly unconscious and was injured.

"We treated and transported her to hospital by land ambulance for further care."

Police are also at the scene.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "Police are currently at the scene of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian which happened on Broomhill Road, Bristol at about 3pm this afternoon (Wednesday 31 March).

"A temporary road closure is in place while enquiries are carried out at the scene.

"There are not thought to be any life-threatening injuries at the current time.”

First Bus has diverted one of its services.

They said: "Service 1 will terminate at the top of Allison Rd/School Rd. Will start its journey at the top of Allison Road/School Rd until further notice."
