
A TEENAGE rugby league player had to be placed in an induced coma and flown to hospital after suffering a serious head injury during a tackle on Saturday.
Emergency services were called to a rugby league match on the Central Coast about 3pm to reports a girl in the under 15s competition had been injured during a tackle.
She reportedly made it to the sideline before the alarm was raised, due to the serious nature of the injury.
NSW Ambulance paramedics were first on scene and provided initial treatment to the injured girl, believed to be age 14.

The CareFlight Helicopter was tasked to the scene and landed on the playing grounds in Erina.
CareFlight's specialist doctor and a NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment on the girl. She was intubated and placed in an induced coma to stabilise her before she was airlifted to a Sydney hospital.
