Girl suffers broken arm after being pinned against fence by 'chubby' boy in horror attack

A girl was seriously injured after being pinned against a fence and attacked by an 'unknown boy' in Wigan.

Police were called just after 6pm on Tuesday (12 July) after the girl, who was playing on the football pitches at the bottom of Caunce Road in the Scholes area, was approached by the boy.

The boy, believed to be between the ages of 11 and 13 pinned the girl's arm against the fence and then struck it with an unknown object, breaking it in two places, GMP said.

Following the assault, he is thought to have ran off towards a wooded area, which leads to Rose Bridge High School where he is believed to have been joined by another youth, who was wearing blue shorts.

The offender is described as being approximately 4ft tall, of chubby build, with dark coloured hair, short at the back and sides with a longer 'flick' at the front. He is said to have spoken with an accent that wasn't local to the Wigan and at the time of the attack, was wearing a dark coloured tracksuit.

Detectives investigating the horror attack are now calling for anyone who witnessed the incident, or have any information to come forward and contact them immediately.

Anyone with information should contact police via 0161 856 7094 or gmp.police.uk quoting 3279 13/07/22. Information can also be shared anonymously via the independent charity – Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
