Girl, six, publishes second children's book after Amazon hit

Destiny Likambi, six, has published her second children's book after her debut story went to the top of the charts a day after being released.

Destiny's first book 'The Girl on a Journey' is still one of the top sellers in two categories on Amazon.

The schoolgirl has now published the second book in her series 'Destiny and the troll', with a third and forth on the way.

Destiny told the ECHO : "My books are for children who are learning to read and who love reading just like me.

"Everyone can write a book, it does not matter their age".

Both of her books were written at the age of five, with the second being published after she turned six.

Destiny's mother Sylvia Likambi said: "It feels amazing and quite humbling, I know every child has potential and she shows what other children can achieve.

"My work as a transformation coach helps me to empower others and Destiny through her writing makes it easy for children to believe they too can achieve by inspiring them too.”

Her passion for storytelling and art goes back to her nursery days when she always looked forward to telling everyone about her day and often brought home drawings and paintings.

All of the illustrations in this book were done by Destiny in collaboration with a professional artist, giving an added element of character to her work that matches her own fun, outgoing personality

Her first book follows the journey of the brave Alena after she gets lost and the latest book, ‘Destiny and the troll’ she takes her readers on a thrilling adventure into the woods.

Destiny is writing more books as part of her Destiny book series.

She follows in the footsteps of her older sister Latoya aged 15 who wrote her first book of short stories aged seven which was later published when she was 10.

Destiny's brother, Michael, aged 12 has also recently published a book in January 2022 called ‘Tammy and the Shipwreck’

Destiny is the youngest of three children who, as authors, wrote their first books at a combined age of 24.

The first book published in August 2021 was narrated, written and initially illustrated by Destiny in one day in March 2021. Later, her sister Latoya typed it up for her.

Destiny said: "I am excited to write my own books because I don't just want to read other people's books, I want to do more.”

The book is currently listed high out of thousands in Amazon's Children's Interactive Adventure eBooks and books too.

Sylvia said: "Destiny is going to write a lot of books and will continue to write.

"She hopes to be a medical doctor when she is older and a singer, but I don't know how that is going to work.

“We know the school is very proud of her and all her fantastic achievements and she represents a positive image for her school.”
