Girl's surprise at incredible Harry Potter world her dad build inside her wardrobe

A single dad has created a real-life Harry Potter Diagon Alley for his daughter inside her wardrobe.

The incredible replica take from the hit movie and book series was put together over six months by talented dad Dylan Saxby for his daughter Ella, six.

The 42-year-old decided during lockdown to make something special for his little girl's sixth birthday in September and in April he began planning the incredible play space.

Over six-months the dad-of-one meticulously researched and collected materials, props and items he would need to recreate the fictional street, before finally starting work in August. The build took him around a month to complete.

Using an "weird unused space" in his London home which had been used to house Ella's wardrobe, Dylan decided to create something totally magical for his beloved daughter who is a huge Harry Potter fan.

He said: "I have this weird shaped room at the back of my kitchen and it's too small to do anything with so I was racking my brains about what to do with it during lockdown. Up until then Ella's wardrobe had been there.

"I thought it looked like a narrow street and the idea just popped into my head because I had recently watched the first Harry Potter movie with Ella so I decided to transform it in to Diagon Alley for her birthday."

Dylan worked hard to hand build every door and used wallpaper to recreate the brick walls and book shop. He even got Ella's gran involved to hand-paint all the shop signs.

Then, when it was finally done, he played a game of hide and seek with the youngster so she would discover the magical space on her own.

He said: "We were playing the game and I kept trying to direct her to it. Eventually she seen it and just screamed "Can we keep it here forever?"

"She loves it. She really lets her imagination run wild in there and there's lots of little props and things she can play games with. I'm happy with how it turned out."

Dylan is now planning on a Christmas shop to add to the street as another surprise for Ella.

He said: "I realised I enjoyed doing it and her reaction made it even better so I am making a Christmas shop as a surprise for Ella."
