Girl power is the name of the game as great-great gran celebrates 90th birthday

A great-great-gran from East Kilbride celebrated her 90th birthday with four generations of her family recently.

And girl power is strong in Ellen Caldow's family with a total of five generations of females including herself.

The East Mains matriarch was joined by her daughter Carol, granddaughter, Debbie, and Debbie's daughter, Emma, at the celebration this month.

To top of the day there was also six-month-old Andi, who is Emma's daughter.

Carol told Lanarkshire Live : "We are a really close family and like being together whenever we can.

"We had a wee tea party for my mum in the house with the five generations of us girls all together.

"Mum had a lovely day and really enjoyed having us all with her.

"Like everyone else, we found it tough during lockdowns and the pandemic not being able to mix.

"Although mum did stay with me for a bit as I was her carer and we did go out on to the veranda to say hello to other family which was nice.

"But it was just lovely all the generations together again. It's nice having all the girls in the family.

"And baby Andi has been a ray of light for us all - she is an absolute joy."
