Penny Porter, a normal teenage girl who has a creative passion for photography and blogging about her awkward and frequent panic attacks, is brought to New York by her parents to cool off after an embarrassing encounter with stage stairs, a large audience and a pair of faded unicorn underwear. On her trip, she finds something she’d never thought she’d find - love and betrayal. In this book, you’ll learn all about Penny’s anxiety, which doesn’t mix well with her not very well thought through assumptions and accusations.
The characters in Girl Online were extremely realistic, I felt like I knew them. I could picture what they what be doing, wearing and saying without even having the book with me. One issue I had with this indescribably phenomenal book by my favourite YouTuber of all time was that it was too predictable. Several drama scenes were extremely foreseeable, but I did finish this book within three days!
The tense scenes in which Penny was experiencing her anxiety attacks were written particularly well, I think this is because the author also suffers with anxiety; writing becomes better when personal experiences are included.
I’d recommend this book to big fans of Zoella and of relationship/friendship drama, and would rate it 9/10.
