Girl makes parents cry with 'heartwarming' note to Santa Claus

An 11-year-old girl with autism brought her parents to tears with a heartwarming letter to Santa Claus.

Cordelia Cox, of Norton Malreward, Somerset, penned a touching piece saying she would like her parents to relax over the festive season.

Mum Jess told Bristol Live that she and her husband Andrew found the work to be hugely powerful.

Mrs Cox said: "When I saw Cordelia’s letter it was very heartwarming - it made us very tearful when we read it."

A section of the letter, which is pictured below, states: "My parents work so hard to give me and my brother stuff and they deserve to relax."

Cordelia said her father, who owns a building company, leaves home at 7am every day and often does not return until 7pm or 8pm.

The Chew Valley School pupil told Bristol Live that while she would be happy to receive some inexpensive presents, her main wish is for her parents to be able to put their feet up.

"I just love it when we all sit on the sofa and relax and watch a Christmas film," she said.

Mrs Cox explained that Cordelia's letter was written on Thursday (December 12) without her knowledge.

"I was out with friends and she wrote it with my husband and my son. My husband sent it to me by text and said, ‘Read this - this will bring you to tears’," said Mrs Cox, who added that Cordelia is always kind and caring.

The full letter reads: "Dear Santa, Merry Christmas! I am writing this letter to tell you a few things.

"Since September it has been quite a stressful time for me. I am now in Year 7 and I go to Chew Valley School and because of my autism it has been quite hard getting used to it but I love making new friends and getting to know all of my teachers.

"I would like for Christmas to be relaxing and to have fun with my family. I will like presents and I would like my parents to relax.

"My parents work so hard to give me and my brother stuff and they deserve to relax. Please can I not be on the naughty list. I do annoy my brother a lot but every sibling fights but I do like him at the end."
