Girl left shaken after man asked her to get in his car in Sunderland street

A teenage girl was left shaken after a man asked her to get into his vehicle in Sunderland.

The incident happened shortly after 6pm on Friday (June 19), in the Queen Alexandra Road area of Sunderland.

It's believed the man approached a teenage girl and started a conversation before asking if she wanted to get into his vehicle.

The girl ran home and although she was shaken by the incident was unharmed and police are now appealing for information.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 6pm on Friday (June 19) we received a report of a male acting suspiciously in the Queen Alexandra Road area of Sunderland.

"It was reported that a man approached a teenage girl and started conversation before asking if she wanted to get into his vehicle.

"The girl ran home and was shaken but uninjured following the incident.

"An investigation has been launched and enquiries are ongoing to trace those involved.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact us on 101 or via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of our website quoting log 881 190620."
