Gardai are on the hunt for a young girl and boy who attacked and robbed an elderly Dublin woman after playing a cruel trick at her front door.
A warning has been sent around the northside to keep an eye on elderly relatives and neighbours after the sickening incident that took place this week.
The attackers gained access to the woman's house after the young girl duped the pensioner into opening the door claiming to be delivering her tablets from the chemist.
Once the door was opened and the elderly woman was distracted, the boy ran into the house and nicked her purse out of her handbag.
The stolen wallet was subsequently found dumped hours later with the contents taken out of it but the woman's niece warned that it could have been much worse.
She said: "Please warn elderly relatives or neighbours to be careful who they open their door to.
"My elderly aunt had her purse robbed this evening by some young girl who rang the bell pretending to be delivering something from a local chemist.
"My aunt let her in and then some young lad ran in whilst my aunt was distracted and robbed her wallet out of her handbag.
"Luckily the wallet was found dumped, minus its money - it could have been a whole lot worse.
Dublin Live understands that Gardai are investigating this incident and are urging anyone who may have seen anything or know any information to come forward.
