Girl-led Dublin gang of eight 'push woman to ground' from behind attacking her as she walked alone in Ballymun

Gardai are investigating after a girl-led north Dublin gang of eight 'pushed a woman to the ground' from behind and attacked her as she walked alone.

The sickening assault took place on Thursday night shortly after 8pm in the Ballymun area.

It is reported that as many as six young men and two teenage girls followed the woman, who is in her 40s, before pouncing on her in the Marewood area.

One of the locals claimed that the victim looked "unrecognisable" after the assault but Gardai confirmed the walker did not need medical attention.

The two girl attackers were understood to have white jackets on and the gang used bikes to get away from the scene.

They are said to have ordered drink from a nearby off-licence and were also allegedly caught on camera after going into a shop in the area after the attack.

A Garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "A woman in her 40s was reported of being pushed to the ground by a group of youths while out walking in the Ballymun area at approximately 8.30pm on Thursday 11 February.

He added: "She did not require medical attention and investigations are ongoing."
