A girl killed in a cliff fall in Tasmania's southeast had been holidaying from Victoria, police say.
Emergency services said late on Friday the 11-year-old fell about 10 metres while visiting Sand River conservation area in Buckland, about 60 km northeast of Hobart, shortly before 2.30pm.
"It appears the child was walking along the edge of the clifftop when she slipped and fell," police said in a statement.
"The child is from Victoria and was visiting Tasmania with her siblings."
Her parents were informed of the tragedy on Friday.
A rescue helicopter was sent to the scene, which is inaccessible by road. CPR was administered but attempts to revivie the girl were unsuccessful.
Sand River is a recreation area popular for rock climbing and bushwalking.
Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident, to assist in preparing a report for the coroner.
