Girl found alone in playground sparking police appeal to help find her family

Police are appealing for help as they try to trace the family of a girl found in a Merseyside playground.

A passer-by reported seeing the child alone in Gaskell Park, St Helens, this morning.

Officers attended and she was taken to hospital to be checked over.

She was spotted at 8.40am but, despite carrying out house to house enquiries in the area, Merseyside Police has been unable to track down her relatives or establish who she is.

The girl, thought to be around 10-years-old, was carrying a Nintendo Switch with the account name 'Fragger'.

She is described as white, with brown hair, wearing a blue top and black shorts.

Appealing for help, Sergeant Paul Allen said: “Although the girl appears to be in good health, we’re obviously desperate to find her family, so if you recognise her from the description or have any information, call 999 immediately with reference 323 and we will do the rest.”

Information can also be passed on via Twitter (@MerPolCC) or by calling the force on 101.
