Girl fighting for life, soldier became hired gang gunman and mum's Homes Under the Hammer surprise

Good morning, these are the latest ECHO headlines this morning.

A young girl is fighting for her light after a concrete fireplace fell on her

Alexa-Leigh Blakemore, six, remains in a medically-induced coma after suffering serious head injuries including a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain.

The family of Alexa, from Norris Green, say their daughter's condition is 'touch and go' after the accident on Friday September 10, at around 8.10pm.

The pair, who rent from a private landlord, say they have been calling for repairs in the property and want to warn others to make sure heavy fireplaces are secure.

Soldier became a gangland gunman after turning to drugs

Aaron Bretherton, from Everton, was a serving soldier when he fired a pistol four times at David Barnes, leaving his victim with a severe leg wound.

The 24-year-old had an "exemplary" career before he returned from service in Africa and began to show symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Liverpool Crown Court was told.

Bretherton wielded pizza boxes and a Glock handgun when he knocked on his victim's door on the night of April 24, 2020.

Woman told to 'come as quickly as she can' after stranger knocks on her door

A Merseyside mum has praised the strangers who rushed to her son's side when he fell unconscious.

Schoolboy Patrick Jones, aged ten, was out playing with his friends near his home at around 5.30pm when he came off his bike and hit his head on the pavement on Warrington Road, St Helens.

On impact, Patrick, from Rainhill, became unconscious and was found bleeding from the head as people nearby quickly came to his aid and rang an ambulance.

A Merseyside mum spotted her house on Home Under the Hammer but it wasn't what she was expecting.

Rebeccca Koncienczy is renting her Wallasey home and watched in surprised when presenter Dion Dublin looked around the house before its revamp.

She said while the majority of the house looked the same, there was one thing missing.
