Girl fighting for life in Bristol children's hospital after Devon crash that seriously injured her mum

A young girl is fighting for her life in Bristol Royal Hospital for Children after being hit by a car in an incident that also saw her mum suffer serious injuries.

The 11-year-old girl and her 39-year-old mum were involved in a collision in Paignton at around 3.40pm yesterday (Wednesday, September 15),

The mum is in Bristol's Southmead Hospital with life-changing injuries.

The collision in Windmill Road involved two pedestrians (the mother and daughter), a Black BMW, and a white Peugeot.

As a result of the collision, the child was airlifted Devon Air Ambulance to hospital, reports DevonLive.

The driver of the BMW a 54 year old female was treated by paramedics at the scene for minor injuries.

Local officers, as well as officers from the Alliance Operations Department attended and conducted an initial

investigation. Officers were joined by Forensic Collision Investigators who conducted a forensic examination of the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information in particular dash cam is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101 quoting Log number 607 of the 15th of September 2021.
