Girl dies after becoming unresponsive during 'medical episode' in school

A young girl has died following a 'medical episode' at a school in Hertfordshire.

The schoolgirl died after being rushed to hospital from Marriotts School in Stevenage on Thursday.

Police and ambulance services attended the school at around 1.45pm and paramedics rushed the girl into care.

According to Hertfordshire Police, the child was reported to have become unresponsive while at school.

Sadly, the girl passed away a short time later, the authorities confirmed.

Officers attended the scene and remained at the school to assist with the incident.

Her family are being supported at this difficult time and have asked for their privacy to be respected, Herts Live reports.

They have also requested that people do not speculate about the incident on social media.

Enquiries are being carried out by police but the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Police did not give details of the child's age.

The school caters for pupils aged 11-18.
