Girl bashed by juveniles in Nth Qld

Three juveniles will face court after a teenage girl was set upon while walking home, in north Qld. (AAP)

A girl has suffered head, face, arm and leg injuries after being attacked by a group of juveniles on her way home from school in north Queensland.

Police say the incident occurred close to Townsville's Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Friday afternoon when the 16-year-old was set upon by six juveniles.

She was allegedly taken to the ground and assaulted after refusing to give up her food, and had her mobile phone stolen.

Queensland Ambulance Services treated the girl at the scene before transferring her to Townsville University Hospital.

Local police located and arrested three of the alleged perpetrators late on Friday evening while the mobile phone was recovered from one of the offenders.

The trio will face the Townsville Children Court at a later date.
