Girl and teen arrested as young man slashed with knife in gruesome Dublin city stabbing

A young girl and a teenage boy have been arrested after a young man was slashed with a knife during a horrific assault in Dublin over the weekend.

The injured victim, who is in his 20s, was walking along Saint Augustine Street on Sunday just before 9pm when he was stabbed numerous times.

He is still recovering from his injuries in St. James's Hospital where his condition is described as being stable.

An 18-year-old man and a younger girl were arrested over the vicious assault a short time later.

They are currently being held at Kevin Street Garda Station as officers launch a full investigation into the stabbing.

A Garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "We are investigating an assault which occurred yesterday evening at 8.45pm on St Augustine Street in Co.Dublin.

"A 20 year-old man received stab wounds during the incident.

"He was later taken to St. James's Hospital where he received treatment for his injuries. His condition is currently described as stable."

He added: "An 18 year-old man and a female youth in her late teens have been arrested in connection with this incident.

"They are currently detained at Kevin Street Garda station and investigations are ongoing."
