Girl and boy, both 16, face trial over attempted murder of 17-year-old in Bristol

Two teenagers are to face trial in connection with an attempted killing in Bristol.

The case involving a boy and girl, both 16, was mentioned at a pre-trial preparation hearing at Bristol Crown Court today. (March 2, 2021)

The boy, from the Midlands, is charged with the attempted murder of a 17-year-old at Mayfield Park, Bristol, on February 12. The girl, from Bristol, is charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

The boy, who in youth custody, did not attend the hearing as he is self-isolating for ten days having tested positive for Covid symptoms.

His female co-defendant appeared via video link from Vinney Green Secure Unit, Emersons Green.

Mark Worsley, defending the boy via video link, said expert guidance was being sought on any assistance his client would need in a trial.

The Recorder of Bristol His Honour Judge Peter Blair QC said: "Both the accused are nearly 17.

"We ought to be doing all we can to accelerate the preparation of the case."

The judge adjourned the case for a further case management hearing at 2pm on April 30, to be attended in person by both defendants.
