A 13-year-old girl in Bunbury, Western Australia, has been charged with drink-driving after she was allegedly pulled over at the wheel of a stolen ute on a suburban street on Tuesday night.

Ros Weatherall, a spokeswoman for WA police, said Bunbury police stopped the ute because it was driving without headlights on Westwood Street, in the suburb of Withers, at about 8pm.

“The female driver was questioned by police and found to be a 13-year-old girl,” Weatherall said.

The girl had allegedly stolen the ute from a house in Brunswick, some 27km away, earlier that night.

Weatherall said the girl was taken to Bunbury police station and gave a positive breath test. She will face the Bunbury children’s court next month on charges of stealing a motor vehicle, driving unlicensed and drink-driving.
