Girl, 8, left with bunny shaped scar on leg as holiday henna tattoo goes wrong

A girl was left with a “horrific” bunny-shaped scar on her leg after reacting to a henna tattoo on holiday.

Kyra Leary, eight, needs hospital treatment and it could take three years to heal fully.

Her mum wants to warn about the plant-dye tattoos.

Natasha Leary, 34, of Bridlington, East Yorks, said: “It’s been terrible. She asks, ‘Mummy, why have I still got a bunny on my leg?’ She has been in agony. It goes bright red in the cold and purple if she’s too hot.

“She had to have layers of skin removed to help healing.”

Kyra got the £20 tattoo in April in a shop near the Eftalia Aqua hotel in Antalya, Turkey, during a Jet2 holiday.

Natasha believes the hotel owns the shop and feels Jet2 has a duty to protect people.

Jet2 said it is “a separate business. We have no control over [its] service.”

A spokesperson for the company added: “We are very sorry to hear about this experience, and we wish Kyra a full and speedy recovery.

“As we are not responsible for services purchased outside of the holiday package, we advise customers to liaise with the businesses involved when necessary.”
